Well this was unexpected! Just months after being introduced to the DJI RS3 camera gimbal series, DJI have shared a brand new addition to the RS3 lineup! Say hello to the DJI RS3 Mini. Let’s take a look and see what this new mini camera gimbal is all about.
DJI RS3 Mini: What’s New?
It’s Light, Like Really Light
Not only is the DJI RS3 Mini physically smaller than the other gimbals in the DJI RS series, it also weighs significantly less. With a total weight of just 795 grams when operating in the default vertical orientation, the DJI RS3 Mini weighs a massive 50% less than the DJI RS3 Pro and 40% less than the standard RS3. This makes operating the RS3 Mini just that much easier, especially when you’re filming shot after shot. Trust us, your forearms will be grateful for this change.
Native Vertical Video
The RS3 Mini introduces a brand new feature that we’ve never seen before on a DJI Ronin series stabiliser: Native Vertical Video. Whilst vertical video recording on Ronin series gimbals is nothing new, previous generation gimbals have required the DJI R Vertical Camera Mount to record in portrait. Now with RS3 Mini, you’ll be ready to record TikToks, IG Reels, YouTube Shorts and more at a moment’s notice.
This follows in the footsteps of DJI other recent releases that have placed emphasis on portrait shooting options for social media content creation including the DJI Mini 3 and DJI Mini 3 Pro drones which introduced a rotating camera for flexible vertical shooting.

DJI RS3 Mini: Is Smaller Better?
When it comes to camera gear, bigger is better, right? Most of the time, that’s correct, but the RS3 Mini bucks that trend, packing immense professional power into a small form factor. With its smaller form factor, RS3 Mini is more compact, more portable and easier to operate for long periods of time.
