Adventure is out there… and the brand new DJI Osmo Action 3 camera is ready to help you capture and share your every adventure - big or small. The third addition to the fan-favourite DJI Osmo Action series, this new action camera packs a lot of power into a compact, versatile package. Let’s break it all down.
What’s New?
The all-new DJI Osmo Action 3 gives thrill-seekers a brand new way to experience and capture extreme sports, adventure activities, tricks, stunts and so much more. We’re taking a look to see what’s new and improved below.
The return of an iconic design
You asked for it and DJI listened! That’s right, the iconic design of the original Osmo Action camera makes its long-awaited return on the new DJI Osmo Action.
This might be a familiar design, but don’t let looks deceive you, the new Osmo Action 3 features a bigger, better CMOS sensor and upgraded internals to help you capture every moment of action in stunning 4K.

Landscape, portrait and everything in between
Unlike other action cameras that limit your recording to traditional landscape mode, the Osmo Action 3 empowers users to record in landscape and portrait for added versatility. With such a huge emphasis on sharing vertical video on social media platforms including Instagram and TikTok, the Osmo Action 3 is optimised for modern-day creatives through portrait filming support. Plus, with the included Horizontal-Vertical Protective Frame, accessories including hand grips, extension rods and more can be mounted in both vertical and horizontal orientations.
It's built to last
The Osmo Action 3 ditches the heat-prone aluminium body of the DJI Action 2 for a thicker, sturdier body that’s built to withstand bumps and bruises. Unlike the dainty Action 2, the redesigned Osmo Action 3 can truly take whatever you throw at it and is the perfect accompaniment for extreme sports and stunts.
Gorilla Glass
The Osmo Action 3 is one tough cookie. Featuring chemically-strengthened Gorilla Glass on both touchscreens and the main camera lens, the Osmo Action 3 is resistant to scuffs and scratches and can survive general wear and tear. Prone to being clumsy? No need to stress, the Osmo Action 3 is drop-proof up to 1.5 metres!

What’s the Camera Like?
Cinema-Ready Sensor
Just like its brothers and sisters across the DJI drone lineup, the DJI Avata features a killer camera engineered specifically for content creation.
Traditionally, Cinewhoop drones feature incredibly small, lightweight cameras that often compromise on image quality to keep their weight down. That’s not the case with Avata which sports a new 1/1.7” CMOS camera sensor.
The Avata’s 1/1.7” sensor is bigger than the sensor found in the fan-favourite DJI Mini 2’s gimbal camera (1/2.3” CMOS) and the DJI FPV drone. That means that the Avata now features the largest sensor on a DJI FPV series drone!
Superior Stability
RockSteady 2.0
How do you keep footage steady when you’re flying at 97 KM/h? Rocksteady 2.0, that’s how! DJI’s proprietary electronic image stabilisation software keeps images smooth and steady no matter how rocky your flight may get. This means that the Avata can capture cinema smooth footage even without the mechanical gimbal featured on traditional DJI drones.
HorizonSteady
Armed with a massive new camera sensor, the Mini 3 Pro can capture more data than ever before in each and every shot. This means that DJI has been able to implement HDR (high dynamic range) recording for the first time ever on DJI Mini. With HDR recording, you’ll capture more vivid colours and rich details in the shadows and highlights that are usually hidden away. Video has never looked this good from a drone this small.

How Can I Use It?
Designed to cater to dozens of different use cases, the Osmo Action 3 strives to be the most versatile action camera on the market, delivering premium filming experiences in a variety of different scenarios, whether you’re on land or in the sea.
In the Water
Just like any other action camera worth its salt, the Osmo Action 3 is waterproof and can be used in rain or shine. That’s 6 metres deeper than the previous-generation DJI Action 2 and even the latest offerings from GoPro.
Want to dive even deeper and explore the depths of the sea? Simply pair the Action 3 with the new Osmo Action 3 Waterproof Case to achieve up to 60 metres of waterproofing.
For Vlogging
With a touchscreen display built into both the front and back of the Osmo Action 3 camera, you can get a live view of what the camera sees, no matter which way you’re filming. The front-facing touchscreen makes the Action 3 ideal for on-the-go vlogging, giving you a live preview of your shot without having to compromise camera quality like vlogging on a smartphone. The Osmo Action 3 also pairs easily with extension rods to achieve wider angles when filming.
Super Safe
Just like every DJI drone, the DJI Avata is packed with safety features that help keep your drone safe in the sky whether you know it or not.
Halt and Hover
Just like its older brother the DJI FPV, the DJI Avata features an emergency brake feature that stops the drone mid-flight in a matter of milliseconds. Halt and hover allows pilots to avoid deadly obstacles and crashes by stopping flight and hovering in place.
Built-In Propeller Guards
Traditionally, DJI drones have propeller guards sold separately but the DJI Avata mixes things up with propeller guards integrated directly into the design of the drone. Yep, that’s right, those four large circles you spot on the DJI Avata drone are actually built-in propeller guards! These propeller guards provide a buffer between the Avata and obstacles to keep it ultra-safe.
