With the launch of two all new combos for the DJI Avata FPV drone, DJI have also released an updated version of the beloved DJI Motion Controller; the DJI RC Motion 2. Let’s take a look and see what this new intuitive motion-based controller is all about!
What is the DJI RC Motion 2?
The highly anticipated successor to the DJI Motion Controller first introduced alongside the DJI FPV drone in 2021, the DJI RC Motion 2 updates the familiar motion-based piloting of the DJI Motion Controller for the DJI Avata. This intuitive controller allows you to fly and control your drone with natural motion and can be used in place of the traditional DJI FPV Remote Controller 2 for a fun new flight experience.

DJI RC Motion 2: Key Features
Fly in Reverse
Probably the biggest change accompanying the new DJI RC Motion 2 is a redesigned acceleration trigger that sports a new front tab. What does this tab do? Essentially, pilots can now push back on this tab on the controller to fly the DJI Avata in reverse, something that wasn’t possible with the original DJI Motion Controller.
New Buttons and Controls
Fans of the original DJI Motion Controller will notice a few subtle changes to physical controls found on the DJI RC Motion 2. The tilt toggle of the original controller has now been replaced by a scrolling Fn dial, allowing you to access camera controls directly from the controller. This dial can be used to control key camera parameters including ISO, shutter speed and more.
New Joystick = More Manoeuvrability
The DJI Motion Controller’s large brake button has now been replaced with a fine tune joystick. Not only does it offer pilots with more precise control over drone movements, it now allows you to manoeuvre the DJI Avata specifically to avoid obstacles and crashes instead of stopping mid-air.
Battery Life
The DJI RC Motion 2 retains the same long-lasting 5 hour battery life of the original DJI Motion Controller released in 2021. With up to 5 hours of flying when fully-charged, the RC Motion 2 will definitely outlast the battery life of your DJI Avata drone and can be used for flight after flight without having to worry about loss of battery life.

DJI RC Motion 2: Should I Get One?
The DJI RC Motion 2 provides a fantastic new way to experience the freeing flight of the DJI Avata drone. Given the release of this new controller, it's safe to assume that DJI will be discontinuing production of the original DJI Motion Controller shortly, meaning the RC Motion 2 will be the only way to experience kinesthetic flight with DJI Avata. If you’re looking for a fun, different way to pilot the DJI Avata without the restrictions of a traditional stick-based controller, the DJI RC Motion 2 is definitely worth checking out.
