After years of patient waiting, DJI has finally unveiled the new spiritual successor to the DJI Digital FPV System. Introducing the DJI O3 Air Unit, an all-new digital camera and digital transmission system designed specifically for custom-build FPV pilots. Let’s dive in and see what it's all about.
Say Hello to DJI O3 Air
The latest innovative product to come out of DJI’s FPV division, the DJI O3 Air Unit is the culmination of a variety of different industry-leading technologies mashed into one to create the ultimate digital FPV video transmission system.
The DJI O3 Air Unit is made up of two main components: a 4K camera module and a transmission module powered by DJI O3+ transmission. Let’s take a look and see what each component delivers.

DJI O3 Air: Camera Specs
The crown jewel of the DJI O3 Air Unit is its new 4K/60fps camera that’s designed specifically to help you capture the thrill of FPV flying. The O3 Air camera features a 1/1.7” camera sensor that records D-Cinelike video in 4K/60fps or up to 1080p/120fps for super slo-motion recording. All of this through a superwide 155° lens that captures more in every shot.
We’ll let you in on a little secret, this is the exact same camera sensor featured on the DJI Avata released earlier in 2022. This means that you can now experience DJI’s flagship FPV camera performance on a non-DJI drone. How sweet is that?! This means that the DJI O3 Air Unit camera is also compatible with the DJI Avata ND Filters, allowing pilots to gain greater control over camera exposure.
HD Transmission
Unlike traditional FPV video transmission systems which depend on analogue transmission for low latency, DJI O3 Air Unit delivers digital video transmission via DJI’s O3+ transmission technology.
O3+ (OcuSync 3.0+) is a powerful transmission protocol that enables the O3 Air Unit to transmit 1080p/100fps video with latency of just 30ms. O3+ does so by auto-switching between 2.4 and 5.8GHz frequncuy bands to deliver the best transmission possible. What’s more is O3+ supports video transmission up to 10 KM away depending on your flying environment and is the same technology found in all of DJI’s most popular drones including the DJI Mavic 3 and DJI Avata.
This means that pilots can now bring ultra low-latency digital video transmission to their custom FPV drones and quadcopters and safely rely on a solid transmission signal with higher video quality than analogue transmission solutions.
