Want to get into drone flying but don’t know where to start? We’re here to help! The new DJI Mini 2 SE drone is the latest entry-level camera drone that’s designed and optimised with beginner pilots in mind. Let’s take a look and see why it might be your very first drone!
DJI Mini 2 SE: Camera Performance
Just like normal, we’ll start by running through the DJI Mini 2 SE’s camera specs because let’s be honest, this is the part you care most about. This includes an overview of video performance, photo performance and QuickShots.
2.7K Video Camera
Like all other DJI drones, the Mini 2 SE features a built-in camera with 3-axis gimbal that delivers stable videos even in windy conditions.
The DJI Mini 2 SE camera sports a 1/2.3” CMOS sensor that delivers highly-detailed 2.7K video. Want to record in slow motion? Mini 2 SE supports recording in up to 60fps when filming in full HD 1080p. This camera is perfect for capturing your memories from a new perspective and is ideal for social media content creation, especially when you consider how portable the Mini 2 SE is.
If you’re familiar with other DJI drones, you may notice that this is the same camera featured on the original DJI Mini SE with a few small but significant tweaks including support for digital zoom up to 4X.
12MP Photos
The Mini 2 SE is for more than just capturing video! If you’re the type of creative who loves taking your time to frame and tell stories through a single still shot, DJI Mini 2 SE can help you out too!
Mini 2 SE can be used to produce high quality photos that are perfect for sharing on social media. And, with the added manoeuvrability provided via flight, you can frame and capture from truly unique angles that simply can’t be achieved any other way.
The best part? You can now take photos in RAW, making editing in post far more flexible than before.
QuickShots
It definitely wouldn't be a DJI drone without QuickShots! As per usual, all your favourite QuickShot modes are back, including Dronie, Boomerang, Helix and Rocket!
Not familiar with QuickShots? Here’s a quick explainer… A staple of DJI drones, QuickShots is a suite of pre-programmed flight patterns that capture specific drone and camera movements that are difficult to capture manually but made easy with QuickShots. QuickShots work with just a tap, capturing dynamic clips that are ready to share, straight out of the drone.

DJI Mini 2 SE: Flight Performance
31 Minute Flight Time
For a drone this small, DJI Mini 2 SE sure can fly! Powered by Intelligent Flight Battery technology, the DJI Mini 2 SE can fly for up to 31 minutes off a single fully-charged battery. That’s right, Mini 2 SE can fly for longer than most sitcom episodes last!
Plus, it's super easy to charge directly via the USB-C port at the back of the drone.
Massive Flight Range
31 minutes of flight time is absolutely great, but how far can you get with all that time to fly? Well, with the improved DJI O2 video transmission technology, DJI Mini 2 SE can transmit HD video up to 10 kilometres. No, that’s not a typo, the Mini 2 SE has a maximum flight range of up to 10KM!
Compared to the previous-generation DJI Mini SE and other small drone’s from competitor brands, DJI Mini 2 SE blows them all out of the water.
Level 5 Wind Resistance
Worried about flying in the wind? There’s no need to stress with Mini 2 SE’s Level 5 Wind Resistance! You might think a drone this small may not be able to handle rough winds but Mini 2 SE remains stable at up to 35 KM/h. That’s the same wind resistance rating as larger, sturdier drones like the DJI Air 2S.
What this means is that even if you’re flying in rough winds, you can expect the Mini 2 SE to remain steady and deliver smooth, stable footage.

What Else Should I Know about the Mini 2 SE?
New(-ish) Remote Controller
If you’re a seasoned DJI drone pilot, chances are you’re already familiar with the new remote controller that comes with the DJI Mini 2 SE. However, if you’re looking to upgrade from the original Mavic Mini or DJI Mini SE, this controller might look a little different…
First introduced alongside the DJI Mavic Air 2 in 2020, the DJI RC-N1 remote controller is a tough, durable controller for the DJI Mini 2 SE that pairs with your smartphone for easy piloting. Not only does this controller provide a more comfortable piloting experience, it also pairs with DJI O2 to receive HD video from up to 10KM away!
Accessory Compatibility
If you’re already an owner of the DJI Mini SE and are looking to upgrade, you’ll be glad to know that all the accessories you’ve already invested in will be cross-compatible with the DJI Mini 2 SE. With the same camera front and body design, Mini 2 SE can support ND filters, landing gear extensions and more!
