DJI Air 3: Controller Compatibility Guide

Ready to fly? You’ll need a controller! Check out this complete guide to all the different DJI drone remote controllers you can pair with the DJI Air 3 drone to achieve piloting success. Let’s explore each DJI drone remote controller that is currently supported by the DJI Air 3.

What is the DJI Air 3?

The latest drone to join the DJI drone lineup in 2023, the DJI Air 3 is the first DJI Air series drone to feature two cameras. With omnidirectional obstacle sensors and 46 minutes of flight time, the Air 3 is an all-in-one creative solution for aerial filming in 4K.

What Controllers are Compatible with DJI Air 3?

DJI RC-N2

Introduced alongside the DJI Air 3 drone, the new DJI RC-N2 controller is the updated version of the DJI RC-N1 controller first introduced alongside the Mavic Air 2 in 2020. If you’ve piloted a DJI drone in the past few years, odds are, the DJI RC-N2 will look and feel incredibly familiar to you.

With two flexible control sticks, an ergonomic design and extended battery life, the DJI RC-N2 pairs with your smartphone to provide a tried and true flight experience. The RC-N2 sports improved internal antennas to support the Air 3’s O4 transmission for flying up to 20KM away.

It’s far from flashy, but the DJI RC-N2 is ultra-reliable. Pair it with your compatible smartphone today to get flying with the DJI Air 3!

DJI RC 2

Also making its debut alongside the DJI Air 3 drone is the new and improved DJI RC 2 which follows up the original DJI RC from 2022 with a few key upgrades to improve your piloting experience.

The DJI RC 2 is ergonomic and easy to use, providing tactile controls and more stable video transmission with new external antennas and a built-in 5.5” touchscreen.

The biggest advantage of the RC 2? This controller eliminates the need to fly with your smartphone, removing one more variable from your flying experience. The RC 2’s display is brighter than most smartphones and delivers distraction-free flights, allowing you to focus fully on framing your shots.

Admittedly, this controller is pricier than the standard DJI RC-N2, however, we wholeheartedly recommend the upgrade as it provides a massive quality-of-life improvement for everyday flying.
